Flash Site (Landing Page) Optimization
When analyzing HTML landing page, we look at visits, page views, bounce rate and engagement....But when the page is totally flash, any different metric should be looked at? Like click-through-rate of page elements?
Does anyone ever do this kind of analysis before? Any advise is appreciated!

Finding click-through-rate of page elements in Fully Flash Embedded Page

Are you talking about single page site embedded with flash?
I mean every part of the site integrated in single flash??
If so, then you have to write codes with the embedding flash to get the statistics..
But embedding the full site on single flash makes the file much larger and that some times takes too long to load. You can split the sections into different pages (fully flash embedded pages). Doing so, you can find the statistics of different pages. That is better option.
May be Google Analytics can help you a bit..

RE: Flash Site (Landing Page) Optimization
Thanks for your reply!! Yes, it is 100% flash site, with some tabs like overview, expert review, buying guide, which are all flash. By clicking on tabs, can go to different sub page...
i know google analytics have a report. content drilldown report, can see page views of particular hierarchy of the flash site. and I use Omniture hierarchies/organization report or Omntiure custom links report to see the populority of these links...my main concern is any particular metric should be looked at when analyzing flash page other than HTML page in order to measure and optimize the page design?
You said it may take time to load, which i think is really true, and i should pay more attention on bounce rate. Although a flash on HTML page can drive engagement, but the long time loading may let visitors give up before flash page is completly open up...

RE: Flash Site (Landing Page) Optimization
Scripts like JavaScripts are normally used for the site analytics processes. They heavily rely on DOM structure of the page. But flash embedded pages are not DOM structured.. But you can give them a good structure wit the help of ActiveX programming.
But those things are very wilder things for flash..
Without DOM structure, I don't think that you can get good internal statistics.

RE: Flash Site (Landing Page) Optimization
Thank a lot for your advise ivenms
So what you decide at last??
I suggest to make pages with HTML. That helps you to put contents on your page which is visible to search bots. This gives you more traffic to your site. Fully flash embedded sites are nothing more than a blank page to the search engines.

RE: Flash Site (Landing Page) Optimization
great advice ivenms. I work at a financial services institution and we have scores of landing pages that we optimize for conversion. a few of them are flash, a few are vids. We use a high end tool called Memetrics to optimize our landing pages for conversion which is typically measured in form completion and whether or not they were approved. Their tool, xOs integrates with everything we need it to. It's not a tool for your average user, more so for high end.

Sounds like it costs tons..
I don't think that normal web users can tolerate that.
