Question Frames...but no frames...how?

Much to Iven's horror, I am working on another site which uses frames, but only for part of the site.

The site is going to be split screen, left and right.

One side will be the content box where one can load games, reviews, news, etc., etc., etc., and...etc., (poor grammar...and I really don't careTongue). This side will use an iframe.

The othe side, however, will be a forum, and I am wanting to find a way to integrate a forum script into a template without using frames, but act like it is in a frame.

Now I know some of you girls like to whine about frames. Some of you have even said that the same thing can be done with css.

Now should I take this to mean that you can use css to load content into a template without reloading the entire page; only the window?

If so, I would like to learn how, and if there is a forum script which can be adapted to this.

So why not just have a forum, put it on a website, then put the contents on the left side?

Edsgar Dijkstra (a dutch computer scientist who invented the concept of structured programming) Wrote:
"The competent programmer is fully aware of the limited size of his own skull. He therefore approaches his task with full humility, and avoids clever tricks like the plague."

"Program testing can be used to show the presence of bugs, but never to show their absence!"

"APL is a mistake, carried through to perfection. It is the language of the future for the programming techniques of the past: it creates a new generation of coding bums."

The idea is simple...

Install your forum in home directory. Then change the forum template to your need. Split the page and insert IFRAME on the template. This will look like a site which is inserted with a forum on one side and an IFRAME on the other side.

The idea is simple, but it still doesn't do what I want:

Although your suggestion is a good one for the split screen it will reload the page when going from one thread/forum to another, rather than just the forum window.

We are using IFRAMES successfully for that purpose. Still I'm not get your imagination as it is.. You can use framed pages with frame border as zero for divided pages.

Another advanced approach for showing contents without reloading the web page is to use Ajax.
