Believe it or not, these are generally thought of as some of the "better" ways to promote your web site. I like using traffic exchanges for driving traffic to my sites. One of the benefits that can be gained from them is combining their use with other promotion resources, such as topsites lists and banner exchanges where the traffic from traffic exchanges can drive up your ranking on toplists, earn you more credits with banner exchanges, and even improve your rankings with some search engines which rank based on traffic.

There are also two traffic exchanges similar to the one which ivenms has shared, which offer targetted traffic.

TrafficSwarm is the one that started it all with targetted traffic exchanges, and thusly offers the most members of any traffic exchange to which your site can be shown. Bonus credits on sign-up, referral credits, and up to ten sites listed for free are just some of the perks they offer. (note: when you see a 'cheaters link: do not click' while surfing the exchange, they are serious, do not click the link)

HitMagik likes to tout what they offer that TrafficSwarm does not. As soon as I find it, I will let you know. Aside from that, they do offer an effective targetted traffic exchange system. The downside is that they only allow 3 sites to be listed for free.

If you have not signed up for the service ivenms has told us about, well, what is wrong with you, go ahead and do it. They offer a targetted traffic exchange that looks potentially effective to me. The one thing missing, or I have not found it yet, is the ability to limit the credits per day (CPD) which are applied to your sites automatically (handy to have if you don't want to use up all of your credits in one day) but they may have daily limits anyway (which is a good thing).

i would never trust these sties because they send you all the wrong traffic. Kiddie hackers look at these sites and try and hack them... believe me i signed up for something like this once and i got a lot of spam on the forums and some hacking attempts were made. S proceed at your own risk

The first one I mentioned shows only the site link to the browsers. So you can expect real visitors to your site who were entered on your site only by clicking the link.

I frankly would not put a forum on a traffic exchange; all that you are asking for is spam.

I would also recommend against many autosurf exchanges. Depending on the exchange, there may not be someone essentially at the wheel, essentially allowing sites which should not have been allowed to end up in the exchange. I have had attempts at installing spyware on my system made by sites in autosurf exchanges.

Some of the older and larger exchanges such as TrafficSwarm, HitSafari, MyTrafficX, and EasyHits4U are pretty good about weeding out bad sites. A good rule of thumb is that if it takes a full day or longer for your site/sites to be approved on an exchange, or if they are approved immediately, someone might well be asleep at the wheel and you may want to avoid it.

I removed the link to MyTrafficX as I have deleted my account with them due to some problems I recently experienced. I have sent the admin of the site an email to explain my decision and what they, hopefully, can do to correct the problem. Although they offer a good service, the problems that have been cropping up are not worth the risk, IMO. I am posting the email I sent here:

lol if i counted spam it'd be over 30
but the spam i don't think is from traffic swarm because i've had a few directory owners also have the same ips spam their sites and the thing in common with us is 1) the script we use and 2) the directory forum we post on...

Just gives a lot of hits to your site trough bots they have. You can make a bot that generates hits to your site simply with PHP.

Will what is good with that, you get alot of hits but non real.. its just to increase ur hits.. you mean I use that if i want to sell the domain or somthing, on increase pr rating? Nothing good else comes from that.. its like cheating

Automated hits can avoid the account cancellation.
