How do I add my Website to Google?

Adding your website to google is simple! Just follow fill in the form at http://www.google.com/addurl/. I have often been asked how to index your site on Google, just before I get asked at this forum too, I have decided to make this post.

I added my two sites for quite a long time now, and only one them was crawled. I think it was last two minths ago. Thats pretty long. Yahoo! seems much faster on crawling websites.

Adding on this old fashion is now not at all affecting the indexing on google. Now GoogleBot completly relays on the sitemaps submitted by the webmasters.

My sites indexed on google only by doing that. But it is not necessary to index your site by submittion on google. Every thing depents upon your luck, really.

Now I sugest Yahoo! as the best on indexing after they launched their new webmaster service: Site Explorer.

It is really not needed to submit your sites to search engines. You will be better to get links in some free directories or buy some from good related websites. Then bots will come quickly and you will be indexed within days.

Do you have that experience on your sites?

google will pick your site up after a while anyway, you could create a file called robots.txt which the google bot and many other search engines will look for. one they have indexed your site once they will carry on forever. My site gets googled about 3 times a day and so does webmasters-forum.

About the robot.txt, what do I have to include on that file? Do I Just have to create blank or what, and upload it on my root server?

Just add the following parts:
-----------------------------------------------------------
User-agent: *
Disallow:
-----------------------------------------------------------

If you don't want to index some folders use:
-----------------------------------------------------------
User-agent: *
Disallow: folder name
-----------------------------------------------------------

Save it as robot.txt on the root folder.

Okay. So just like that and save it?
Or do I have to put something in the User-agent:?

User agents are for specifying with which bot to allow the permissions defined just below.

For googlebot, use

Useragent: GoogleBot

* denotes to all.

I've tried using various directories and link exchanges to build my page rank in search engines but it wasn't until I signed up with various affiliates that I actually made a good chunk of progress. I'm not entirely sure why this is but since then I've signed up with more affiliates and wow it's a little better.

To get listed on search engines, your page must be well Search Engine Optimized (SEO). Your site is not optimized at all. In this forum, there is a SEO category. Try to find methods of SEO from the category. You can ask for help with us.

I've never submitted my site to any search engine nor do i have a sitemap..i know i need one, but can't exactly figure it out

the best way...not only to get your site indexed and crawled...but it maybe help a bit with pr

forum signatures lol sorry to the admins here but lets face it...bots constantly crawl forums and will follow and index any links they find...so make use of that forum signature....put it to work...put a link to your site(s) and eventually the bots will come!

Yes, your root folder is public_html ( for the world. The system root is root( or home)/hostname/public_html/

Disallow: foldername, foldername: it is ok to do that, but it is better to specify folder in different lines:

Disallow: foldername1
Disallow: foldername2
Disallow: foldername3

Also you have to make a site map for your web site to grab with the google bot. Not every sites will grab by the bot. Only two of my sites are indexed by the bot fully. Even this site is not indexing by the bot. lam making updated sitemaps and resubmitting them on every weeks.

The best way to make a sitemap for your site is to choose http://freesitemapgenerator.com/ That is the only site which help me to make the full page sitemap for my sites.

It's better if Google finds you by following a link from a different website.

At the time that I posted this thread, I was rather inexperienced.

I have found out that it is better to create a sitemap (i.e. http://www.veebra.com/sitemap.shtml), add the sitemap using the tool posted in the first post and wait for Google to index all of your pages. Make sure that you have a link to your sitemap on every page.

Does every pages of veebra is indexed by google?

Is it is necessary to put a link to the site map on every pages of the site?

Iam using sitemaps in XML version. Now it is the normal way to include in Google and yahoo.

I agree, its so much better than indexing.. at least that other website will be visited by more than the 1 person looking for the keyword on google
