To make your site Search Engine Optimized?

Just make a site page which is validated by http://validator.w3.org/ ( HTML Validator ). Then add metatags. Thats all.

Search engine bots likes content rich pages. That means try to avoid JavaScripts and other graphical stuffs as much as possible if your site is an informative site. Also make your web pages in optimum size. Search engines only index some part of your page if that is very long one. Split long pages into some number to include all parts of the pages.

Sure, meta tags plays big role.

But to improve search qualities, search engines like google neglecting meta tags like keywords. Because you can add keywords which are not at all relating to the page. Even they are neglecting every thing without visible on one time. I can't tell the actual format of Google indexing. Their algorithms are secret and they often changes their methods.

That is absolutely not true. There are sites ranking at the top which do not use meta tags or the alt attribute (not tag) at all.

Google does not rank for meta tags. They only pick up the meta description tag for their results snippet. The same with MSN.

Yahoo handles the meta description like the other above. But recently they began to give value to the keywords meta tag.

In addition, abuse or false implementation of those tags can get your site penalized.

Webnauts, you are specialist on SEO. I know very little when considering you on search optimizations. I know that google only gives values to those things on the page that are visible on browser window. Still many of search engines and bots consider meta tags for their search results. I really believe that alt tag gives great traffic from "Google images" and I got 80% of traffic for image search to one of my informative site.

Every thing iam mentioning here is the opinions of SEO experts. Iam not doing any SEO researches. Some of them are from my experience.

Everyday, algorithms of search engines are changing and many things goes wrong when time passes.

Can you tell me how can you tell that those SEOs are experts? Do you know what an expert can do? Search for example in Google for the keyphrase:

Iam just justifying my part. Iam not an expert on SEO. Just following the words from the experts. Definitely your words are also valuable and consider for my future works.

Many of my words on here are not up to date.. The algo. is always changing. So you are the best one to give the uptodate tips on SEO.

I am sorry ivenms. I have respect for the work of Aaron, but is some cases I noticed that the information he provides is not accurate. Also of the present Google employee Matt Cutts, and more of the ex-Google employee Vanessa Fox.

I am very well known and compentent expert on the Web in Accessibility, Usability and SEO, and I feel offended to hear from some little webmasters that I am just good to be in their forums to give some liitle tips.

I just found your forums by accident and I thought I could give a hand. But I am not willing to spoil my reputation hanging around here. OK?

I think Aaron Wall would fit better to your community. As you are claiming that he is an expert, only because he is more popular, that tells me more than enough. So I think you better invite him.

oh Lord, Webnauts if you wish to fight about petty things, then yes you are in the wrong place...

however as Ivenms said about meta tags, I've heard tons no thousands of people in webmaster forums stating that Meta tags are a vital part....
granted no it doesn't help with PR but does help with search engine placing sometimes...better keywords in the meta tags the better listing...

and no just because it's not visible in the browser, that has nothing to do with it....there are many of things not visible to human traffic, but yet are to bot traffic that are just important
main example <rel=nofollow> a major, non-visible aspect to many websites....

Ivenms never said you weren't an expert, he only stated that this Aaron is, since they did publish a book and all (though that doesn't mean they are an expert, however apparently they do know something)

but anyways just my 2 cents worth, as I said you wish to fight over something petty as who knows best, then yes, sorry this isn't the forum for you...any community forum is not for you! A community has nothing to do with who's an expert, or who knows best...it is to better everyone's knowledge....

About the meta tags: Since a short time now, Yahoo gives weight to the keywords meta tag. Other engines not! OK?
