RE: META TAGS
you're code is a bit screwy...what's with the ?
try
<meta name="description" content="Free tutorials on html, php, java, making money online">
<meta name="keywords" content="Free tutorials, tutorials, free, html, php, java, making money online">
and yes they go between your head tags <head>blablalbbla bla</head>
Meta tags aren't worth what they once were, but they may still offer a small amount of help to an online campaign. If you need help creating them - they are, after all, becoming somewhat rare use the Meta Tag Generator.
The tool only requires that you enter a list of keywords and a short description of your site. From there, it'll create something that you can copy and paste at your leisure. A good search engine strategy requires that you take every advantage possible.

RE: Meta tags Position in HTML Pages
But dat site is a simple one. What u wrote,its just giving that much only. Anyways,thanks man.
You can use much keywords for your web pages. Some times, some search engines give good search results for filling the keywords. But you can't do that now with Google. Still having meta tag is a good practice.

RE: Meta tags Position in HTML Pages
As Iven pointed out, using metatags is still a good practice. Even if Google or other search engines don't list your index page for a keyword you have in your metatags, because it is not on your index page, it will still get the rest of your site searched for those keywords, theoretically.
The description and title are used in returns on searches and as they are perhaps even more valid than the keywords tag it is important to get good keywords in both.
The robots tag and others may seem trivial, and frankly unless you are specifically blocking search engines they will visit your site with or without a robots tag. The main importance to those tags is completion. Though they will most likely not mean that much, if, in comparing two sites of equal value, having all of your i's dotted and t's crossed could spell the difference in which site gets listed ahead of the other.
The revisit tag is pure bunk. It is a leftover tag from a Vancouver search engine which no longer exists. They were the only one that used that tag and required it for webmasters who wanted to be listed in their search engine. Somehow the metatag stayed with us even though no other search engine uses it; they will crawl your site as often or as infrequently as they please. About the only list the revisit tag will get you on is 'Goobers who believe in fairy tales'.
An important tag to use, though there will be those who disagree as well, is your charset tag. It may be Greek to us, but apparently bots expect it to be there and, as I've heard but cannot verify, will favor sites that use it.
If you don't know what charset your site uses, just use the default:
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
When it comes down to it (poor grammar there), even if you did not use a single tag, you would still get listed and crawled; but, as I mentioned, having them makes your site look better to search engines.
There are lots of online metatag generators that will create a basic set of tags for you. If you want to make certain you have all bases covered, Metty will generate any metatag for you that you can simply cut & paste into your html.

charset is a must for every web pages. To get high page rank, your page's HTML should validated. A page without charset shows error on HTML Validator. I suggest everyone to validate their pages to get good search engine results..

RE: Meta tags Position in HTML Pages
Still unable to get it. Plz b clear bro. But what's its use?
That meta tag is especially for robots. It holds four values:
- Index
- NoIndex
- Follow
- NoFollow
The INDEX directive specifies if an indexing robot should index the page.
The FOLLOW directive specifies if a robot is to follow links on the page.
The defaults are INDEX and FOLLOW.
Some examples:
<meta name="robots" content="index,follow">
<meta name="robots" content="noindex,follow">
<meta name="robots" content="index,nofollow">
<meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow">

RE: Meta tags Position in HTML Pages
ok lol now i am confused i've always been told to put ALL
so then what is the difference between all and index,follow?
ALL=INDEX,FOLLOW and NONE=NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW.
The INDEX directive specifies if a bot should index the page or not.. Pages with noindex are not included on search engines. You can use this attributes for private pages.
The FOLLOW directive specifies if a robot is to follow links on the page. If the value is set as "nofollow", the bot stops its crawling after the current page without going to the links on that page.
