MyBB forum - opinions

Since this forum uses myBB too, and I am also a fan of this type of board, I decided to make a thread where those who use it might share their impresions!
For me, MyBB is almost perfect as a board! It's only flaws are that they do not have so many mods and templates yet! Fortunatelly, as I noticed, their community is growing and they have many dedicated supporters who are trying to improve it! There are even news about myBB 1.4. who looks very promising so far!
What do you think about myBB, the so called "vBulletin's younger brother"?

I still say that vBulletin is the best. But it cost too much for its performance. I don't think that it can give that much.

So I turned to the free forums. I first tried PhpBB. It has a big supporting community. But its template and theme really make PhpBB a bad impression on me.

Then one day I accidentally found MyBB. I found it as a stylish forum. First I like the template. Then I realized that it is very easy for the users to post threads and reply. It is far far better than SMF. Also now regaining a better support for the forum. So I selected MyBB and I can't find another one which is better than MyBB forum till then.

Well, vBulletin costs, as you said! And from what I've understood, it's quite complicated!
PhpBB has nice templates and skins, but the admin cp repulses me ( seriously). I hated admining an phpbb forum. It was really wierd and quite difficult to find some features. And the skin... omg, it was horrible! It burned my eyes!
SMF... hmm... a little bit better. It's really secure. It can deal with IP's like no other board, and I can tell you this after I've been trough some really ugly spam bot attack ( yeah, attack, it was no accident... ). But it doesn't have so many user attractive modules, except maybe the shop and the arcade. And karma mod... reputation is better
IPB ... I only used it a little and I don't know it so I won't say anything.
MyBB, well, as I said, a well designed Admin CP, it comes with an user cp also, and it has some pretty interesting mods. After I used it, I was converted )

i like phpbb .. the new version has different looks that you can edit.. so the template shouldn't be a problem anymore as you mentioned.. in the mean while mybb is a treat. I feel like its the free version of vbulletin, but still didn't try it on my own websites

I really like how MyBB runs and how it is easy to use and mod. I think vBulletin is to much money for it a script like it. Also everyone likes it when it's free.

MyBB is very good script which gives an easy interface to work with. You not at all worry about the codes on MyBB. Every thing on MyBB is only dealing with forms. Just fill the forms and you can manage the forum very well. It is just like Frontpage or Dreamviewer to hide HTML code.

Just wait until MyBB 1.4 comes out.

Yes.. MyBB is very secure now and its security is increased a lot for the last 3 - 4 upgraded versions.

Join the club, Jimmy! I also hate phpBB. The admin panel really repulses me ( literally).
I cannot manage an phpBB forum because it's a mess there. MyBB is really neat and clean when it comes to this part. Everything you need is easy to find and the mod installing is so easy that even someone that doesn't know anything about coding can do it.
What more can you ask?

vbulletin rules! But Mybb has also stood up.. I hate vbulletin for its so many useless options. Unnecessarily wastage of money for vbulletin.

MyBB is great. I love this forum very much.

Thats why I'm sticking to this place for such a long time.
MyBB is the most stylish forum I ever seen.

Nice to see that MyBB has so many fans. I think that's great and it would help improve the forum script by making more and more people implying and creating mods
