Protection against big pictures within [img] tags?

Is there anything that can actually protect you from having your forum loading really hard because of a big picture placed between a img tag?
I once placed 10 img tags with a picture that had a resoultion of 5000x7000 and you can imagine that the thread loaded extremely hard.
You can actually "kill" a forum if you post something like 30 huge img tags at every thread. Smile
So, how can I protect myself against something like that?

if there isn't a standard feature to prevent this you could add a script to resize them? like a maximum size

Yeah, but won't the resize script still make my page load just as difficult?
Isn't there a thing that automatically won't display images that are higher than a value given by you?
Something that will simply skip images too big Big Grin

[img] code uses the simple <img> tags on the page. Normally the source is pointed to foreign sites. So I don't think that there is an effective solution for this problem. They best way to avoid this is to monitor your forum continuously and edit those posts which embed with large images.

Check the CSS advanced tutorials. May be some properties on CSS can help you, don't have any idea about that...

That could be applied only when images are uploaded.

RE: Protection against big pictures within [img] tags?

That's bad news for me I guess...
Oh well, at least do you know how I can easily delete those posts? Because I'm not tempted in waiting forever for that page to load so I can delete them Tongue
By the way... I know someone that actually "killed" a 40.000 members forum by posting something similar at every thread. Do you know what he used?
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge multiquotes.
Something like

Quote:

Quote:

Quote:

multiplied like a couple of hundreds Big Grin
But against something like that I can protect myself easily because there are mods that prevent that ^^

He should immediately banned from the forum.

But still the size of the image is same. That make the download time for the page to very large.

Still I don't consider this problem as a serious one.

Uhm... you know... if you were a criminal mastermind as I was, you wouldn't use such measures.
As I said, I was talking about someone who would deliberately do such a thing in order to destroy a forum. Do you think he would use image tag codes?

[edit]Ivenms, if I would theoretically want to destroy this forum, I would post a ten image tag codes with images that have 25 mega each at every thread. It's not such a hard job. There are no hacking skills required. Only copy-pasting. What would you do then in order to fix it?
How could it be solved?

IF some one going to do that on this forum.. I simply ban the member first and then delete every posts he made...

By this way I can save my forum.. Big Grin

It is simple and common idea. May be you can look for some mods to restrict this problem. But I think this problem is not that much important for the security matters. The main problem with the forums are its logging power. Many bots are there which are capable of logging on restricted pages and posts spams automatically. You can deal with a real person, but you can't deal with bots, because they are capable of posting millions of posts per day, which usually crash the entire forum. So be careful with the forum and always upgrade to the latest version.
