I am now planning to make a new theme for mybb which is HTML and CSS validated.

Why don't you try on the site mods.mybb.com ?

That site gives a good collection of existing mybb themes.

Also I know an other web site which provides a good layout for the MyBB forums: http://www.ivgeo.uni.cc
