Which One is the BEST?

I dont know much about databases. But I know the names of some popular databases. Iam giving you an opertunity to select your favorite database.

Vote for the best.

MySql is the best because it is free and also platform independent.

Oracle is also a good choise for comercial applications like banking.

MS Access is the simplest database in windows platform. I think it is the best. I dont have any experiances with others.

SQL server uses for many projects and softwares.

I haven't tried any of the other choices so I voted for MySQL.
But I am thinking of trying either SQL or Oracle.

You made a good choice Addik, MySQL is the most powerful database on the face of cyberspace.... Most forum systems require a MySQL database to run on your website!

It really depends on environment you want to use databases. If you are in some business environment with lots of transactions then you go with Oracle. For websites it is obvious ... mysql is the king

i use SQL for all my applications but i also use Oracle for special database storage linke for my billing i use an Oracle database on a seperate server as Oracle is best for huge corporate applications

My vote for now is MS access, we used it in tafe for IT tech support,so thats all I know But its sounds like there are a lot better data base software out there to be experienced.
I would like to dig into My SQL or Oricle I have herd of them.

MySQL must be loved because this has turned into a discussion about MySQL.... Nathy your sig is a little large... Would you mind making it a little smaller because it takes long time to load?

For common purposes that most of us are using databases for, MySQL is really the only contender. Oracle and SQL Server are not only proprietary, but cost large amounts of money to license, no matter how you put it.

I only know mySql and oracle. With mySql I have some experience since it's the data base format that I used for all my forums. It was quite simple to work with it and undestand it.
I also learned once Oracle, since it was required for some exam that I took, but the sintax seemed quite easy to understand. In fact, I was able to pass the exam with little knowledge of Oracle, but more with general programming knowledge. But since I haven't use it for a site and mySql was more than satisfying so far, I guess I'll stick with it!
